Turning over Rocks: Advanced Strategies

The Paper Cut Posse, as any cutting edge organization should be, is 100% committed to both the development and reclamation of advanced stratagem. (Some were witness to our dedication in this area as PCP member Tom Bland attempted the dangerous "all rock" approach). This endeavor has been aided by the large body of collective work that exists in the field of game theory. Particularly interesting has been the studies into both the successful and unsuccessful algorithms tested in the 1999 and 2000 RoShamBo Programming Competition. From these programs (of which source code is freely available) we have gained insight into some advanced theories. If anyone wants to play 1000 consecutive games we predict a +20 score or better (+/- 10 is within the natural error of randomness). Some new strategies have been devised from these studies and will be tested in open competition play next week. (Hint: many involve attempting to determine patterns of the opponent, such as a proclivity to ascend, descend, or don't change their throws).

Iron Fistory Lesson

The Fist of Iron (FoI) was on hand for the first season event at Dirty Franks on Tuesday night, and took home the top slot for street cash and a nifty final 8 placing. Highlights of his successes include a win vs. a vetran player and doubling up his street cash just before the final bell. Well played FoI, well played. Those long hours of practicing total domination are starting to pay off. Needless to say FoI is one of the many rising stars of Team Paper Cut, so expect to see his name all over the morning papers.

Paper Cut Posse: Looking for a few good throwers.

As the 2008 PBRPRPSCLCS season draws near, the Paper Cut Posse is confident in their chances. While the ranks of the PCP are filled with raw talent, some additional roles and leadership positions are needed. Any interested parties should contact paper_cut_posse@yahoo.com. Cagey Vetran
We seek someone familiar with the PBRPRPSCLCS who can aid the team in the delicate social hierarchy that is Philly RPS

Wealthy Benefactor
The key requirement here are deep pockets filled with many dollars and a willingness to buy victory rounds of PBR

Team Statistician
Willing to scout players from additional teams and identify trends/weaknesses in them.

Paper Cut Posse sweeps first places in March RPS tournament.

In their first showing as a team, the Paper Cut Posse (PCP) broke onto the Philadelphia RPS circut in rare form, taking both first place in the tournament and the street RPS prize. In their first and final public tune-up for the 2008 PBRPRPSCLCS season they ended with a team record of 7 wins, 5 loses, and would have picked up a whopping 13 points had this been a scored team event. Kite-Kate ended with the most street cash, beating Baconshark by a sizable margin.

The notable individual performers were Kite-Kate and Le Tigre. Kite-Kate also made it to the round of 8, only to be defeated in a close match by Posthumyn. Le tigre, in his second Philadelphia tournament this off-season (contrary to the mainstream media's report), took first prize and built and early lead in the 2008 season standings. Lets hope that these successes are the first of many during the long, grueling season.
